Participated in Red Dot New York as “Buenas Artes Gallery”

San Francisco International Arts Festival
On May 20th. 2008, Puerto Rican artist Rafael Trelles took time off from the San Francisco International Arts Festival where he participated in the Peace Billboard Project (http://www.peacebillboards.org/) to come to the Paula Blaconá gallery in the Mission and present “En Concreto”, two experimental graphic projects of urban intervention. Originally created in Vieques, Puerto Rico (2004) and in Buenos Aires, Argentina (2007), Trelles works with a pressurized water hose and plastic stencils. With these simple tools, he engraves elaborate designs on urban surfaces covered with years of dirt and grime. On the side of an old building or a school sidewalk, flowers sprout on concrete, dragonflies emerge from the ruins of cannons and fish swim in seas of cement shadows. Contrasting natural images of profound beauty with violence, Rafael Trelles’ “En Concreto”, creates poetry of daily life.
